Welcome to the Elementary Science Fair Homepage!
Students in grades 3-5 are invited to participate in our annual Elementary District Science Fair. The fair will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012. It’s being held in the Media Center in conjunction with the District Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO) at Walton High School. Come for one, come for both!
Walton High School is in East Cobb @ 1590 Bill Murdock Road, 30062, http://maps.google.com/ or http://www.mapquest.com/
On-site and late registration welcomed! If you have a budding scientist at your school or want to bring your experiment to participate, please come to the registration desk in the Media Center when you arrive at Walton.

The CCSD Elementary Science Fair is done gallery style. That means walk-throughs to view the experiments across the entire morning and all are invited. there are no student scientist interviews (as many participate in ESO simultaneously) and it is open to the public all morning, even during judging. This makes the event both exciting and welcoming to all. It also gives visitors to ESO a chance to see all that students are doing county-wide in classrooms when not training and practicing for ESO.
The schedule:
8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - Drop-off, registration and set-up in Media Center (ESO events begin at 9AM)
9:15 AM - 10:45 AM - Judging
10:45 AM - 11:45 AM - Scoring and evaluation, winners determined, ribbons placed
11:45 AM - 12:15 PM - Open gallery and winners display
12:15 PM - Move to ESO gymnasium for joint awards ceremony with ESO
12:30 PM - Awards ceremony in Walton gym

Entry Details:
Projects may be entered into the district science fair in one of two categories:
- Individual project
- Group project (up to 3 students)
Project Entry:
Top-place science fair winners (maximum 3 winners per school) from each school are qualified to participate in the district fair. Science fair coordinators at each school will inform winning students or student groups about their participation in the district science fair. If you have not yet had a school science fair, then up to three students from your school may be invited to submit a project. (Coordinators - please work with the classroom teachers to select appropriate projects and notify students.)
Each science fair project must consist of a student-led scientific investigation (following accepted scientific methods) and a display to present the investigation results to judges and other science fair attendees. (Science notebooks or journals are not required but they are encouraged to increase understanding and preparation for middle school science.) Students should follow their school’s science fair guidelines when investigating and presenting their science fair projects.
Note: Biological and zoological projects are acceptable at the discretion of a school’s science fair team and/or science fair coordinator. Schools are strongly encouraged not to allow students to experiment with molds or bacteria of any kind, as these can be particularly hazardous to student health. Volcanoes or robots will not be accepted as experiments.
